It started as a spreadsheet. A very over-engineered spreadsheet.

For years I ran my personal finances out of a Google Sheet I'd built myself — custom scripts, multi-bank imports, automated categorization. It worked well enough that friends and family started asking to use it. So I added their bank mappings, then their friends' bank mappings, and somewhere in there I became free tech support for a spreadsheet. What pushed me to actually build something was seeing AI get genuinely useful for the tedious parts. Not "AI will manage your money" useful — just, it can read a merchant name and tell you it's a grocery store, flag that you spent more on restaurants three months in a row, turn an hour of manual cleanup into something that mostly just happens. NBU is that Sheet rebuilt as a real product. Same monthly rhythm I've used for years, a lot less of the grunt work I used to do by hand.
