What cookies are
Cookies are small text files your browser stores when you visit a website.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies are used to remember information about you between visits — like keeping you logged in, remembering your language preference, or saving settings so you don't have to re-enter them every time.
Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (stored for a set period). They can be set by the website you're visiting ("first-party") or by third parties embedded in that site.
What we use
We currently use only the essential cookies needed to keep NBU working. No tracking, no advertising.
We currently use only essential cookies required for NBU to function. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies that share your data with external parties.
If this changes, we will update this policy and notify you before any new non-essential cookies are set. Under Québec Law 25, we are required to obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
Essential cookies
These are the three cookies that make NBU work. You can't opt out and still use the service.
Essential cookies cannot be disabled without breaking the service. They do not require consent under Law 25. We use the following essential cookies:
| Cookie name | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
nbu-auth-token | Authentication session — keeps you logged in to your NBU account. | Session |
nbu-lang | Stores your language preference (English or French). | 1 year |
nbu-prefs | Stores UI preferences (e.g. collapsed sidebar state). | 1 year |
Analytics cookies
We don't currently use any analytics cookies.
NBU does not currently use any analytics cookies or third-party tracking cookies. We mention this section because we may add privacy-respecting, first-party analytics in the future (for example, to understand which features are used most).
If we do, we will obtain your opt-in consent before setting any analytics cookies, as required under Québec Law 25. We will update this policy at that time.
Withdrawing consent
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time.
You can manage, delete, or block cookies at any time using your browser settings. Note that deleting the nbu-auth-token cookie will log you out of NBU.
